Baltimore native Keith Booth, who's long been part of the local basketball scene, was hired as the boys' varsity basketball coach at Dunbar High School, according to a Baltimore Sun report.

Booth, 44, played for Dunbar in the early 1990s and led the Poets to a state title during his last year at Dunbar in 1993. Booth takes over for Cyrus Jones Sr., who stepped down in March after coaching Dunbar to five state titles throughout his 12 years at the helm.

Booth played for Maryland from 1993-1997. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 14.1 points and 7.3 rebounds throughout his four years in College Park, Md. Booth was drafted 28th overall in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft but played just 45 games in two years for the Chicago Bulls.
