Coming off a season marred by some ugly losses and the resignation of previous head coach Bob Mumma, the UMBC baseball program places its hopes in newly-appointed head coach Liam Bowen.
Bowen, a Maryland native, was a part of Mumma's staff for the past eight years as the pitching coach and most recently as the acting head coach after Mumma resigned late in the 2019 season. Prior to his tenure under Mumma, Bowen started his coaching career at St. Mary's College of Maryland, a Division III school, before making the leap to Division II with Lincoln Memorial University, in Harrogate, Tenn.
"I've spent most of my life in Maryland," Bowen said on The Bat Around with Stan "The Fan" Charles May 25. "My family and I are thrilled that we're going to be able to continue at UMBC and in our home state."
