The life of a minor-league baseball player is never easy. Grueling travel, uncertainty about one's future and earning significantly less pay than those playing in the big leagues can weigh heavily on players hoping to finally be called up.
Rinse and repeat that cycle for seven years and the average man might quit, or at least have people quit on him. Luckily for new San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, he had the unwavering support of his college sweetheart throughout an extended six-year stint in the Baltimore Orioles' minor league system.
"At one point she was working three jobs and working her tail off just so that I could be out there chasing my dream," Yastrzemski said of his wife, Paige, on Glenn Clark Radio May 29. "It's been just as much a dream for her as it has been for me, and she's dedicated more to it than I have."
