University of Maryland football coach Michael Locksley has announced linebacker Rahshaun "Shaq" Smith has joined the Terrapin football program.
Smith, a Baltimore native, earned his undergraduate degree from Clemson University in May and will be eligible to play immediately for the Terps.
A 6-foot-2, 250-pound linebacker, Smith led all players with seven tackles in Clemson's spring game. He played in all 15 games during the Tigers' undefeated 2018 season which ended with a National Championship. Smith finished the 2018 season with 17 tackles (9 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.
