Jim Palmer On Orioles' Pitching Woes, John Means And David Hess

It's no secret the Baltimore Orioles are facing serious issues with their pitching staff, and Orioles legend Jim Palmer is hoping for change to come from within to ensure the next crop of arms is well suited for The Show.

The Orioles are coming off a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox during which they allowed 28 runs in three games June 14-16. They lost to the Oakland Athletics, 16-2, June 18. This is no surprise for a pitching staff that sits in last place in the major leagues in team ERA (5.68) and second to last in earned runs (408), in front of only the Seattle Mariners.

"At some point the guys they send up here have to pitch a little bit better," Palmer said on The Ross Grimsley Show June 17. "We get so enamored with the radar gun ... but where's the ball going?"
