Ravens second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson has long had his share of doubters, and according to The Athletic's Mike Sando, those doubters are still around: Jackson was ranked in the fourth tier of Sando's annual ranking of NFL quarterbacks.
This year's list was compiled by asking 55 NFL coaches and executives to place current quarterbacks into one of five tiers based off of their personal observations. The list starts with top-tier quarterback such as Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) and Tom Brady (New England Patriots) and ends with fourth-tier quarterbacks like Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick (Miami Dolphins). No quarterbacks fell into the fifth tier.
Falling into the fourth tier, Jackson is labeled as "unproven or best suited as backup." Sando, however, sees Jackson close to being a borderline third-tier quarterback who requires a quality run game and an above-average defense in order to secure wins.
