Double-A Bowie field coach Josh Conway is part of a red-hot Baysox team that's seen many young prospects flourish throughout the last two months, especially on the mound.
The Baysox began the season 7-23 but are now 59-49 overall and sit in second place in the Eastern League's Western division second-half standings at 29-10. Bowie is 40-15 since June 1, with one of the team's shining moments coming from starting pitcher Michael Baumann July 16.
The right-handed pitcher threw a no-hitter against Harrisburg Senators, one of the highlights from a staff that's had six pitchers pitch at least 30 innings and post sub-3.00 ERAs this season. Baumann sports a 1.16 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in 38.2 innings since being promoted from High-A Frederick. Conway says he and the rest of the team are very pleased with the 2017 third-rounder's development this summer.
