9/26/19

After being named the honorary captain for Maryland's big game against Penn State Sept. 27, former Terps head coach Ralph Friedgen could not help but to reflect on his legendary tenure as one of the greatest coaches in school history.

When Friedgen returns to College Park, Md., he'll be honored on the field during the first half of the game. Friedgen, who coached the Terps from 2001-2010, is third in program history in wins (75) and led the Terps to seven bowl game appearances with a five bowl wins. He's been away from the program since being fired in 2010.

"I really didn't understand the depth of it and I'm very appreciative to Damon Evans and Mike Locksley for going to such lengths to bring me back," Friedgen said on Glenn Clark Radio Sept. 25. "I'm looking forward to it. I think probably it's long overdue."
