Former Ravens head coach Brian Billick was honored to be enshrined into the Ravens' Ring of Honor Sept. 29, but in his trip back to M&T Bank Stadium, Billick was not reminded of the team's defenses of old as Baltimore suffered a 40-25 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Billick, who is second in franchise history in regular-season wins (80), led the Ravens to four playoff appearances and a Super Bowl victory against the New York Giants in January 2001. Billick was fired after a 5-11 season in 2007, but he was thrilled to take his place in the Ring of Honor alongside his former players.
"It was very much appreciated. Very unexpected," Billick said on Glenn Clark Radio Sept. 30. "I really appreciate the response by the fans, and it was very special to walk out back in the stadium floor, to be able to be surrounded by the number of players that participated in obviously the titles here. That was gratifying for me that they would take the time and the energy to come back for that and the way the fans responded, it was quite a weekend."
