After Blowout Loss To Penn State, Maryland Football Seeks Reset Vs. Rutgers

When Maryland football walked off the field Sept. 27 after a 59-0 loss to Penn State, the Terps' blazing start to the 2019 season felt like a distant memory.

It was less than three weeks earlier, on the same field, that the very same team dropped 63 points on a then-No. 21 Syracuse squad known for its defense. But after scoring a nation-leading 142 points in the first two weeks, Maryland combined for just 17 against Temple and Penn State. And in the Terps' most anticipated home game in years, they were blown out of their own building in front of a sellout crowd.

"When we went back and watched the film, we didn't spend a lot of time, because of the way the game finished, dealing with [anything] other than the teachable moments," head coach Michael Locksley said Oct. 1.
