Maryland football is back in the win column, coming out of Piscataway, N.J., with a 48-7 victory over Rutgers on Saturday afternoon.

After a 59-0 loss to Penn State on Sept. 27 and a slow start in this contest, the Terps found the explosiveness that spearheaded their 2-0 start to this season. Maryland scored the game’s last 41 points, dominating Rutgers on both sides of the ball from the middle of the second quarter onward. The running backs all showed their star power -- Javon Leake had three total touchdowns, Anthony McFarland had two and Tayon Fleet-Davis had one, plus a team-high 112 scrimmage yards.

But there’s reason to be worried for the future, as quarterback Josh Jackson went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter. Jackson was up-and-down in the first half, but had found a rhythm and was 9-of-16 with 176 yards and two touchdowns. Head coach Mike Locksley said after the game that Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain. His timetable for a return is unclear, but Tyrrell Pigrome will lead the offense in his absence.
