Atlanta Hawks Forward Bruno Fernando 'Forever Grateful' For Time At Maryland

Once former Maryland center Bruno Fernando was selected No. 34 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, his name was etched in history for becoming the first Angolan-born player ever to be taken in the NBA Draft.

With his first NBA season with the Atlanta Hawks around the corner, Fernando is grateful for his time at Maryland and how it allowed him to achieve such a feat. Prior to attending Maryland, Fernando did not have any previous connection or history with the Maryland area -- but it didn't take long for him to fall in love with the school.

"I could go on and talk about Maryland all day, all year, all month," Fernando said on Glenn Clark Radio Oct. 16. "... When I got there, I committed right on my visit because I was like, 'This is it, I'm not trying to go anywhere else. I found what I needed.' That bond, that family atmosphere, that love and affection that [head coach Mark Turgeon] had for his players."
