Ravens safety Chuck Clark is embracing the challenges that come with his new responsibilities as his team's defensive signal caller and as a father to his baby girl as the Ravens enter the bye week.
With safety Tony Jefferson (knee) out for the year and linebacker Patrick Onwuasor (ankle) having missed the past two games, the Ravens' coaching staff has called upon Clark to relay play calls to the defense. Faced with a new responsibility, Clark, 24, took it as a challenge but believes he has always been preparing for this moment.
"It means a lot," Clark said on Glenn Clark Radio Oct. 23. "First and foremost, you're a football player. It doesn't matter where you are on the depth chart. Second [and] third, you can always be the next man up and that's the situation that we had. Some injuries happened and things happen, and when it's time for you to be called upon, just make sure you're always ready. Be professional, respect the game, study the game and when it's your time to go out there then take full advantage of it."
