11/20/19

Dentons has been awarded International Law Firm of the Year at the ninth annual TrustLaw Awards in London. The TrustLaw Awards celebrate remarkable pro bono projects undertaken by legal teams with NGOs and social enterprises around the world.

The award recognizes that since joining TrustLaw, Dentons has been enthusiastic and committed, having replied to more than 80 pro bono requests for legal services since May 2019 when the nominations were announced. The Dentons Pro Bono team is led by Pro Bono Partner, Ben Weinberg, together with Europe Director of Pro Bono, Atanas Politov, Pro Bono Manager, Lamin Khadar and CSR Manager, Bernadette O’Sullivan.

"We are immensely proud of the hard work that has earned Dentons this important accolade,” said Elliott Portnoy, Dentons Global CEO. “We look forward to continuing to foster a firmwide culture where our people are both empowered and encouraged to make a positive impact.”

“We are committed to making a positive impact on our communities through the power of pro bono legal advice globally,” said Joe Andrew, Dentons Global Chair. “While we do not do it for the recognition, we are honored to have received this award and look forward to continuing to provide our expertise to pro bono opportunities around the world.”

Having announced several partnerships focusing on pro bono work and innovation in recent times, including with pro bono platform Paladin to deliver a solution that intelligently refers and manages law firm pro bono, and with children’s advocacy network Eurochild to support the rights of children in Europe, Dentons has been recognized multiple times over the past year for its commitment and dedication to pro bono work. Earlier this year, Trustlaw and Nextlaw Referral Network announced and launched a strategic partnership to create the world's largest legal pro bono platform.

Recent Dentons pro bono accolades include:

  • Best Contribution by a Pro Bono Clinic at the LawWorks Annual Pro Bono Awards 2018 for its London-based free legal advice clinics "Poplaw";
