UHY LLP and UHY Advisors Mid-Atlantic MD, Inc. announce the promotion of 12 employees, including one principal and three managers. Stephanie Refo was promoted to principal, Amanda Good and Kalya Sankaranarayanan were promoted to manager, and Martha Leach was promoted to office manager. All are in UHY’s Columbia, Md., office.

Ms. Refo, a member of the Audit and Assurance Department, has more than 10 years of experience providing auditing and tax services to Common Interest Realty Associations (CIRAs) and real estate companies. She consults with clients about new accounting treatments and different tax treatments available for CIRAs and assesses internal controls of associations and management companies.

Ms. Good, a member of the Audit and Assurance Department, provides attestation and assurance services to companies in a variety of industries, with a focus on not-for-profits, construction and whole-sale distribution companies. She assists not-for-profits with their first and annual preparations of IRS Forms 990, 990-T, and applicable state tax returns and charitable registrations, conducts compliance testing for Single Audits under OMB Uniform Guidance, and carries out review and compilation services. In addition, she performs audits of Employee Benefit Plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution, 403(b), ESOPs, and health and welfare plans.

Ms. Sankaranarayanan, a member of the Audit and Assurance Department, performs audits of Employee Benefit Plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution, 403(b), ESOPs, and health and welfare plans. She works on a variety of clients, including nonprofits, country clubs, and clients in the manufacturing, trading and auto dealership industries. Prior to joining UHY in 2018, she worked for two firms in India, including a big four firm.

Ms. Leach has been a member of the administrative team in various roles for over eight years. She supervises the administrative staff that supports over 50 professionals in the Columbia office. When not at work, she is busy as a Maryland State Licensed Master Wildlife Rehabilitator, is on the Board of Directors and serves as vice president of the Maryland Wildlife Rehabilitator’s Association.
