Trish Weaver and Ryan Spiegel
BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Paley Rothman is pleased to announce that Trish Weaver and Ryan Spiegel have been appointed co-chairs of the firm’s Litigation practice.

Trish Weaver, one of the area’s top litigators, is known for her appellate skills. She has authored briefs and argued before the Maryland Court of Appeals, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and other federal circuits. Trish was appointed by the Governor to the Maryland Judicial Appellate Nominating Committee, which nominates potential appellate judges for appointment by the Governor. Prior to joining Paley Rothman, she clerked for the Honorable Howard S. Chasanow on the Maryland Court of Appeals. In her trial practice, Trish handles a variety of cases spanning the civil spectrum, but concentrates on complex commercial litigation and estate litigation. She has represented clients in many contract and real estate development disputes, sophisticated estate litigation matters and a number of employment/business competition cases. In addition to her numerous appearances in state and federal trial courts, she has represented physicians, psychologists, and lawyers before disciplinary boards.
Trish is past chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Ethics Committee, past president of the Bar Foundation of Montgomery County, the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and the Women’s Bar Association of Montgomery County. She also provides pro bono counsel and volunteer services to Shepherd’s Table, House of Ruth, and Special Olympics. Trish received her J.D. with high honors from the University of Maryland Law School, where she was an editor of the Maryland Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland.
Ryan Spiegel is a leader in government contracts and has a practice focus covering bid protests, trade secrets, the False Claims Act, and various contract disputes and business torts. He often advises contractors on resolving disputes and claims, responding to government investigations, organizing their corporate structure, and obtaining set-aside statuses for small and disadvantaged businesses. Ryan understands the interplay between contract law, government procurement, and corporate law – giving him particular insight to identify issues of concern and propose creative approaches. Ryan leverages his command of the intricate processes of administrative law and civil litigation to advance his clients’ interests. Ryan also handles trademark law matters and has experience with Maryland municipal law issues as well as Maryland election and campaign finance laws.
Ryan is president of the Maryland Municipal League, a member of the Gaithersburg City Council, a former National Judge Advocate of the Navy League of the United States, and a former member of the board of directors of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Ryan received his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he received the Lawrason Driscoll Moot Court Award and served as co-president of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. He served as a summer clerk/extern for U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, where he earned the H.C. Byrd Citizenship Award.
