Eric H. Liou has joined Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP (BSKB) as an associate in the firm’s Electronics and ITPractice Group.

Liou focuses on all aspects of patent prosecution in the electrical and mechanical arts. During his career, he has drafted and successfully prosecuted applications in a wide range of technologies, including audio systems, power generation systems, batteries, fuel cells, telecommunications, vehicular engines, turbochargers, braking and steering systems, medical devices, and consumer products.

Before joining BSKB, Liou worked as an associate at a law firm focusing on patent prosecution and as a litigation extern for a telecommunications corporation. Before law school, hegained extensive experience by working as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), where he examined cost/price-related patent applications directed to postage metering systems, computer reservation systems and energy utility systems.

Liou earned his law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and his B.S. ingeneral engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
