For about a year now, hotels and resorts have not been particularly attractive areas to invest in. The onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the space, causing weaker players in the market to go under and force those who have survived to cut costs and build up their balance sheets to weather the storm. One example of a firm in the latter category is Host Hotels & Resorts (HST). As a major owner of hotels under the Marriott International (MAR) and Hyatt Hotels Corp (H) brand names, the business operates a slew of quality properties, but even it has not been immune to the pain.
