Krista Smith, Audit & Assurance managing director, Deloitte & Touche LLP, has been named emerging growth company (EGC) practice leader for Greater Washington, effective immediately.

In this new leadership role, Smith will serve entrepreneurial companies as they expand their business models and operations to accommodate growth and expanding market relevance including implementing key regulatory, capital and financial reporting considerations that underpin both short-term needs and long-term success.

Fast-growth companies are not new to Smith, who has been focused on the EGC community for many years. She has served numerous EGC clients and has been involved in Deloitte’sGreater Washington Technology Venture Center (TVC) and Technology Fast 500 program. She also has been active with a variety of organizations including MAVA, Mindshare and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

Smith began her career at Deloitte in 1992 and has more than 28 years of experience serving clients in both the private and public sectors, ranging from start-ups to large, complex multinational corporations. Utilizing her extensive knowledge of SEC reporting and technical accounting, she has assisted clients with initial and secondary public securities offerings, as well as numerous private placements.

Smith is a graduate of Lehigh University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in accounting. Additionally, she is a certified public accountant and member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs.
