Bitwise Industries, a Fresno, Calif.-based tech apprenticeship provider, raised $50M in series B financing.
The round was led by Kapor Capital, with participation from JPMorgan Chase, Motley Fool Ventures, ProMedica, Candide Group, GingerBread Capital, Hunt Capital Investments, Impact Assets, Libra Foundation, Plum Alley and Western Technology Investment.
The company intends to use the funds to growth into multiple new markets across the country beginning with Toledo, Ohio.
Led by Irma Olguin Jr., and Jake Soberal, Bitwise Industries leverages public-private partnerships to provide paid apprenticeships to students to learn tech skills, connects them to tech opportunities, and builds buildings in underestimated cities to house their work. Its new initiative, the Digital New Deal (DND), has trained over 5,000 individuals.
The company has already expanded its model to serve five cities (Fresno, Bakersfield, Merced, Oakland, and Toledo).
