Developer Proposes 120-Room Boutique Hotel For Granby Street In Downtown Norfolk

A developer plans to turn a century-old downtown office building into a 120-room boutique hotel with a glass art theme.

The hotel would be part of Marriott’s “Autograph Collection,” a chain of about 100 luxury or boutique properties across the world.

There are none in Virginia, according to Marriott’s website.

The hotel would be in the 13-story Royster Building at 201 Granby St. The building is now the headquarters of the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, which will be moving out this month.

City records say the hotel would include a lobby restaurant and bar, a rooftop lounge and a permanent glass art gallery that would be open to the public.
