The Crowne Plaza Richmond Downtown hotel will get a new name and major face-lift by next spring.
The hotel, at 555 E. Canal St., will convert to the Delta Hotels by Marriott brand and undergo a multimillion dollar renovation project. The exact dollar amount was not provided.
Richmond-based hotel management company SMI Hotel Group announced Thursday that it had recently signed a licensing agreement with Marriott International to convert the Crowne Plaza into the Delta Hotel brand. It will be called Delta Richmond Downtown.
