Before the Interstate 64 widening project began, it would take Ryan O'Donnell about 20 minutes to drive from his home in Newport News to his job in Williamsburg.
These days, it easily takes up to an hour.
"It's definitely a pain," said O'Donnell, who lives in Hilton Village. "It's always been bad where it goes down to two lanes, but now it's even worse."
The widening project is on track, with work on the next stretch of interstate to start in September. Drivers will be dealing with the construction and backups caused by the project until winter 2022.
