The Franklin County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday night to rezone its 550-acre business park under a newly created zoning district.
The board held a public hearing on three items related to the business park project: creating a new zoning classification called regional enterprise park; applying the designation to the business park known as the Southway property; and updating a 2009 plan for development of the U.S. 220 North corridor.
More than 50 people turned out for the public hearing, and more than 15 addressed the board. Several called for the creation of a citizens advisory committee to provide input on how the business park will be developed and requested that certain industries be prohibited.
