Jonnie R. Williams Sr., the businessman at the center of the corruption case against former Gov. Bob McDonnell and first lady Maureen McDonnell, sold his home in Goochland County this week for $2.7 million.
The Tuesday sale came less than a week after federal prosecutors moved to drop their case against the McDonnells. The U.S. Supreme Court in June overturned Bob McDonnell’s convictions, leading to the prosecution’s decision not to retry the case.
Williams, who once was CEO of Star Scientific, was the prosecution’s star witness against the McDonnells during their 2014 trial.
