CBRE Group, Inc. today announced that Chris Murray, an esteemed workplace strategy expert and industry veteran, has been appointed senior managing director, CBRE Workplace, to lead the team’s law firm practice in the Americas.
Considered one of the industry’s foremost experts, Mr. Murray has spent a large portion of his 36-year career providing workplace and design strategy services exclusively to law firms. Based in Washington, D.C., Mr. Murray will be responsible for supporting the company’s law firm clients across the Americas.

He has advised more than 375 law firms of all sizes and has impacted more than 30 million square feet of new office environments around the world. We are thrilled to have him join our team; we know he will drive tremendous value for our law firm clients,” said Lenny Beaudoin, senior managing director and CBRE’s global lead for Workplace.
Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Murray was a managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle where he was part of the firm’s law firm group. Previously, he was a principal with Gensler Architects.
“Chris’ 31-year tenure at Gensler Architects, whose D.C. office he opened in 1983, is a testament to the breadth and depth of his experience which we believe will be invaluable to all of our clients, regardless of industry,” Mr. Beaudoin added.
Mr. Murray is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his master’s degree in real estate from the Carey School of Business at John Hopkins University, where he is currently on the faculty of the real estate program. He is a registered architect, NCARB certified and a USGBC LEED accredited professional. He was the first architect named a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management and is the only architect or real estate professional to be selected as a “Trailblazer and Pioneer” by the National Law Journal.
Mr. Murray has presented to the International Bar Association, the D.C. Bar, the National Association of Legal Administrators and many local ALA chapters across the country. He has written on the topic of the legal workplace for the ABA Journal, ABA Law Practice Magazine, and Legal Times and, as a law firm design expert, has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal.
