Two Richmond-area businessmen are planning to redevelop a building in Shockoe Bottom as an incubator office for startup businesses.

Will Loving and Brad Cummings announced on Wednesday night that they have acquired a 36,000-square-foot, five-story building at 1717 E. Cary St.

They plan to renovate the former tobacco warehouse by late 2017 and lease offices in the building for companies in early development.

“We have got the wheels turning and rapidly in motion to build out this building for a startup incubator space for all of Richmond, and hopefully beyond for central Virginia,” Loving said during an event at the building attended by more than 100 people.
