Bike Shop And Cafe Slated For Downtown Roanoke Property

You may have noticed that some heavy construction has been going on at 416 Campbell Ave. in downtown Roanoke. The building is being revamped to house a bike shop and cafe, three offices and two living spaces.

Stephen Ambruzs aims to open a boutique bike shop in one of the storefronts in the building this fall. Ambruzs, a bike enthusiast, recently moved to Roanoke with his wife and wanted to open a shop that gets more people onto bicycles. Downshift Bikes will sell and repair bikes and bike gear. Ambruzs plans to stock a solid selection of women's biking gear, since he knows that can be hard to find. Most of the bikes for sale will be for casual riders and for transportation and won't be professional road or mountain bikes. He wants to target people who are looking to bike to work or for leisure and who might not have cycled much in the past.

To do that, he is adding some special amenities to Downshift Bikes.
