New Apartments Open At The Bridges In Roanoke

The massive new apartment building at The Bridges development in Roanoke has wrapped up construction after several months of work.

The new South16 apartments, which are located on South Jefferson Street, already have tenants inside. It joins the 157 apartments right next door that were constructed in 2014 and a renovated retail space, which is now home to Moe's Southwestern Grill, Starbucks and Starr Hill Brewery's new taproom, Starr Hill Pilot Brewery & Side Stage, that is opening mid-September.

About 50 units have been leased of the 127 units available, according to The Bridges project manager Aaron Ewert. The apartments are one, two and three-bedrooms and range from about $825 to $1,900 per month in rent. The new building includes a salt water swimming pool and a fifth floor viewing deck. The exterior of the second building is without the first apartment building's multicolored facade and incorporated more brick to create a look consistent with the architecture at Virginia Tech Carilion Medical School and Research Institute, which sits across the street.
