A North Carolina developer with plans to build more than 200 apartments on the former Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. site has pulled out of the project.
Property owner Carilion Clinic confirmed Thursday that developer Berkley Hall did not wish to move forward with the project, which has been controversial among neighbors ever since it was first revealed in February 2017.
Berkley Hall spokesmen Mark Reynolds and Mike Murray could not be reached for comment.
