Lynne Doughtie, the U.S. chairwoman and CEO of accounting giant KPMG, will receive the University Distinguished Achievement Award from Virginia Tech during graduation ceremonies on Friday.
Doughtie, who lives in Powhatan County, started her career when she went to work for what is now KPMG in Richmond in 1985 after graduating from Virginia Tech with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
In 2015, she became the first female top executive at KPMG and the first woman to lead one of the Big Four accounting and professional services firms, overseeing more than 30,000 employees.
