The Data Coalition Gets a New CEO, 3 Executives Join Public Interest Registry

The board of directors from open data trade association The Data Coalitionand sister organization The Data Foundation welcomed Nick Hart on Tuesday. Hart will be The Data Coalition’s new CEO and The Data Foundation’s interim president. He joins the team with 10 years of experience working in federal government and prior to these positions, Hart was the director of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Evidence Project, where he remains as a fellow.

“Ensuring policies are effectively designed to encourage responsible data use offers great benefits for the American people,” Hart said in a statement. “Through the combined efforts of our staff, members, supporters, and Boards of Directors, we will continue advocating to make government more transparent, effective, and efficient.”

Reston, Va.-based Public Interest Registry (PIR), the nonprofit operator of the .org domain, expanded its executive team by three. This announcement comes a few months after the organization named Jonathon Nevett, cofounder of Donuts Inc., as president and CEO in December.
