Meet Sabrina Donnick Project Engineer at Skanska’s Baltimore Patterson High School Construction Site

Skanska USA, one of the world’s leading construction and development firms, is recognizing and highlighting the contributions of its female workforce to the construction industry during this year’s Women in Construction Week, March 7-13. The honorary week raises awareness of the opportunities available for women in the industry and emphasizes the growing role they play.

Walk by any construction site and you will see women working in a variety of roles, from laborers to superintendents to project managers and executives. In fact, it’s a growing trend in the industry to see women taking part in significant roles on major construction projects across the country. Today women account for more than 10 percent* of the construction industry.

One example is Skanska’s Sabrina Donnick. She started in the mid-Atlantic region as an accounting intern. Upon graduation from college in 2018, she shifted from the administrative side of the business to her current role as a project engineer on a construction site.

“Sabrina is dedicated to her clients and a natural leader and innovator,” said Dale Kopnitsky, executive vice president and general manager for Skanska USA Building’s Washington, D.C. metro operations. “A fierce champion of Skanska’s values in and out of the office, Sabrina will continue to make big strides in the industry and inspire other women.”

Donnick graduated from a Baltimore City public high school in 2014, which she helped to renovate during the summers. Her current project at Patterson High School is extremely important to her as it is located in the city where she grew up. As a project engineer, Sabrina is responsible for coordination, managing subcontractors, cost management and technical activities such as reviewing submittals and RFI’s.

“As a native Baltimorean I am delighted to be working on the Patterson high school project and proud to know it will serve young people in my home town,” said Donnick. .
