Chesapeake Constructing Group and Velocity Companies Donate Funds to Local Prince George's County Nonprofit

4/22/21

Now they give back to the community with $12,000 donation to Mission of Love Charities with check presentation TODAY

Earlier this year, Chesapeake Contracting Group (CCG) partnered with Velocity Companies to revitalize the Livingston Square Shopping Center in Fort Washington in southern Prince George’s County. The project, expected to open in the 3rd quarter of 2021, includes the demolition of the existing shopping center and a complete façade and interior renovation of the existing 43,000 square feet Giant Food grocery store, among other things. The finished project will bring a much- needed facelift to the center and provide the local neighborhood with better facilities, enhanced services and a safer environment. CCG and Velocity Companies recognized that more could be done to assist the community with an underserved population. On Thursday, April 22 at 12 noon, both companies will present a check for $12,000 to The Mission of Love Charities, located at 6180 Old Central Avenue in Capitol Heights. (Media are welcome to attend the check presentation ceremony.) For more information about CCG and their current list of projects, go to chesapeakecontracting.com.

“We enjoy projects where we are not only building more sustainable and productive centers, but we are also making an impact on a community in a meaningful manner. We are proud to make a donation with The Velocity Companies to a nearby nonprofit, Mission of Love, that is doing important work and making a difference in the lives of those who live in Prince George’s County,” said Bobby Ginsberg, CEO of Chesapeake Contracting Group.

“Community is at the core of who we are and what we do,” said Brandon Bellamy, CEO, The Velocity Companies. “Driven by our commitment to providing a significant impact in under-invested communities, we are thrilled to partner with Chesapeake Contracting Group and expand our impact in our very own backyard. Our biggest wins happen when we work as a team and we are committed to supporting organizations, like the Mission of Love Charities, to help them create a better tomorrow for the residents in Prince George’s County.”

“We are very grateful to Chesapeake Contracting Group and Velocity Companies for this generous gift, which will be used to support the mission of Mission of Love Charities, serving the most-needy people of our community. With the help and support of people like Chesapeake Contracting Group and Velocity Companies, Mission of Love Charities is able to persist in its mission,” said Deborah Martinez, Chief Executive Officer, The Mission of Love Charities.

Mission of Love Charities is committed to a mission of providing basic needs to the most needy homeless and very low-income people of our community. The organization operates the only 5-day-a-week Food Pantry in Prince George’s County, and it also helps people with financial assistance for rent, free furniture, free clothing, Workforce Development and Job Training Programs, and health care referrals.
