As the dust settles on Excel Homes of Virginia, better known as Mod-U-Kraf Homes, the company’s former employees are taking steps to build a new future.
The Franklin Center hosted an event Tuesday afternoon meant to assist the displaced employees of the modular home building company. Officials from the Virginia Employment Commission, Virginia Western Community College and ResCare Workforce Services were on hand to provide advice to the 30-some job seekers in attendance.
Tuesday’s event was a follow-up to the job fair held just one day after employees cleaned out their desks, and it was meant to show that the center is still here to help, said Kathy Hodges, executive director of The Franklin Center, which offers employment, training and educational services.
