$200,000 Awarded For Further Training Of Local Manufacturing Employees

Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Friday that the Piedmont Workforce Network has been awarded $200,000 in funding to assist manufacturers in the region in providing training and education to their employees.

The local workforce development board represents the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange and Rappahannock.

The funding targets manufacturers in those localities and looks to increase the number of credentials held by the region’s workforce through training in areas including, but not limited to, leadership, project management, welding, technical manufacturing training, machinist operations and lean processes, according to a statement.

Six additional regional workforce development boards also were awarded funding: Northern Virginia, Alexandria/Arlington, Southwest Virginia, Capital Region, Opportunity Inc. and West Piedmont.
