6/9/16

The developers of the massive mixed-use development One Loudoun is asking the county to allow them to build hundreds of more residential units and a self-storage facility on the 358-acre property in Ashburn.

If Loudoun County accepts their request,One Loudoun developers Miller & Smith will give the county an 80,000-square-feet indoor recreation center equipped with 12 volleyball courts, six basketball courts, spectator seating, management offices and more.

“The ball is still in play when it comes to the discussion of the indoor sports facility, but we believe it will be very beneficial to Loudoun for both attracting out-of-town tournaments as well as local resident use,” Visit Loudoun President & CEO Beth Erickson said via email.

The proposed indoor recreation center has been compared to a similar more than 47,000-square-foot sports center in Round Rock, Texas, which Erickson herself has toured.
