Catoctin Creek Distilling Company of Purcellville is joining a group of distillers asking Congress for a tax break.
Scott Harris, the owner of the small Loudoun County distillery, told WTOP-FM that he believes his business could grow if Congress extended the federal excise tax breaks to distilleries.
The breaks are given to craft beer makers and small wineries.
Right now, Harris and other craft distillers pay the same federal excise tax rate as their big competitors such as Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.
