The Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority is moving forward with financing to cover the cost of an expansion to its fiber network recently approved by Roanoke County.
The county’s board of supervisors approved a 25-mile, $3.4 million expansion that would extend the fiber system to 72 miles.
The authority is seeking that amount in bonds to initially cover the expansion so construction can begin.
The Roanoke County expansion will run near 650 commercial properties.
