VIDA Fitness and Other UAC Affiliate Businesses to Raise Funds and Contribute to Equality Florida

As a longtime supporter of the LGBT community, VIDA Fitness’ parent company Urban Adventures Companies, Inc. (UAC) is taking the lead on fundraising efforts in response to last week’s horrific mass shooting in Orlando. UAC is conducting a company-wide initiative where each of its affiliate businesses are raising funds to donate to The Pulse Victims Fund of Orlando/Equality Florida -- the state’s LGBT civil rights organization that is working to support victims and their families. As of Tuesday, June 16, VIDA Fitness and Capitol City Brewing Company began displaying the #PULSELOVEhashtag and white ribbon on their video systems, as well as broadcasting each UAC affiliate businesses’ specific fundraising efforts. These include:
- VIDA Fitness is matching dollar for dollar for every VIDA members’ contribution made to the Pulse Victims Fund up to $10,000.
- Capitol City Brewing Company is donating $0.75 from each purchase of its “Four Core” beers sold for the week beginning Friday, June 17.
- Bang Salon will donate 100 percent of the sales proceeds from a marathon fundraising “Salon-A-Thon” at all four salons on Sunday, July 17.
- SweatBox donated 100 percent of all sales proceeds from single SweatBox sessions purchased on Saturday, June 18.
On Saturday, June 18, VIDA Fitness hosted a Ten Year Diamond Anniversary Celebration for members and guests. During the event, David von Storch, president of UAC, held a special candlelight vigil and moment of silence to honor the victims and their families from the Orlando mass shooting. During his speech, von Storch informed the crowd of UAC’s fundraising efforts and encouraged everyone to donate. He also is hoping UAC’s fundraising initiatives will inspire other DC-area business to follow suit.
“One of the roles we play at U.A. Companies is as a creator of safe, accepting spaces for the LGBT community in Washington DC,” said von Storch. “As such, we have decided that as a company we must work to bring comfort and support to those affected by the Orlando attack.”
