For companies that pay minimum wage, remember that Maryland’s minimum wage is increasing on July 1, 2016 from $8.25 to $8.75 per hour.

Additional increases are mandated for July 1, 2017 to $9.25 per hour and for July 1, 2018 to $10.10 per hour.

These changes are applicable to, among other job categories, home health care workers and companies that employ an influx of high school or college students to bolster their businesses during the summer months or holiday seasons. This change is also noteworthy for employers who deal with wage garnishments, or are considering reducing hourly workers’ wages.
