The Farnborough International Airshow — a bi-annual conference of the most advanced international technology companies — proved an apt setting for Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s announcement that UK company Overfinch plans to expand in Danville, Virginia, and create 41 new jobs.
The adverse British weather conditions could not dampen the spirits of the contingency of Danville and Pittsylvania County representatives who joined McAuliffe for the announcement.
Danville City Councilman Sherman Saunders gave an impassioned introduction for the governor, who opened by recapping the progress made in the first leg of this trade mission, during which he signed a defense contract for a cyber company to come to Northern Virginia. However, McAuliffe described today’s announcement as the highlight of the trip — announcing that Overfinch will create 41 new, high-paying jobs alongside an investment of up to $8.6 million.
