A new cyber security accelerator is being established in St. Paul, Virginia.
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise announced Thursday it has taken ownership of the Oxbow Center to establish a cyber security accelerator to work in conjunction with its software engineering program.
“Adding a cyber security component to the UVa-Wise technology programs will increase their prominence and translate into increased enrollment,” UVa-Wise Chancellor Donna P. Henry said.
Currently, the college has the only undergraduate software engineering program in the state and the plan is to accommodate the growing cyber security industry, Henry explained. UVa-Wise will expand its computer science and software engineering programs to include more faculty members with cyber security expertise, and expand coursework in information security.
