Markel Corp. said Wednesday that the company’s co-CEOs have been named to its board of directors, while its president has been named vice chairman.
The co-CEOs, Thomas S. Gayner and Richard R. Whitt III, were elected to the board effective Tuesday, the Henrico County-based specialty insurance company said in a news release. The board also appointed F. Michael Crowley, Markel’s president, as vice chairman.
The appointments expand the company’s board to 16 members.
Company Chairman Alan I. Kirshner, who leads the executive group, said in Wednesday’s release that Gayner and Whitt bring to the board “a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as strategic insight and foresight into opportunities that lie ahead.”
