A local woman has launched a designated driver service for the Roanoke area.
Diane Rumbolt said she hopes Big Lick Boomerang will be a convenient tool for drivers in the Roanoke Valley and possibly cut down on some drinking-and-driving incidents in the process.
She did a soft launch of the business this month.
Here is how it works: If you are out on the town and want to get home but are unable or unwilling to drive, you can get on Big Lick Boomerang's website and asked to be picked up. It's sort of like Uber, except Boomerang will have a driver come and get your car and drive you home in your own car. Another Boomerang driver will follow to pick up the designated driver when you arrive to your destination.
