Terps Ready For Season-Opener Against American

Before Maryland opens its regular season against American at Xfinity Center Nov. 11, check out PressBox's coverage of the Terps throughout the last month, including the impact Maryland's five-man freshman class could make, junior Jaylen Brantley's effort to increase his role, senior L.G. Gill's decision to come to College Park, Md., sophomore Dion Wiley's rehab and Mark Turgeon's recent extension.

Now, a few more notes on the Terps ahead of opening night:

- Junior Jared Nickens has come off the bench the last two years, with the 3-point marksman mostly playing small forward. Nickens shot 39 percent from 3-point land during his freshman year but dipped to 34.7 percent last year. Nickens averaged 5.7 points and 19.3 minutes per game during his two years in College Park.
