Roanoke’s burgeoning startup accelerator has figured out another piece of its funding puzzle, landing a $40,000 state grant to help train the entrepreneurs who will be moving in next year.
Organizers have said RAMP, which stands for Regional Acceleration and Mentoring Program, will require about $250,000 per year to offer a boot camp-like experience for founders looking to take their startups to the next level.
It’s already being funded with a $600,000 state grant that the city of Roanoke received to renovate the three-story building at 709 South Jefferson St. RAMP is also seeking to raise $25,000 to furnish the facility through a crowdfunding campaign.
Organizers have said the rest of the budget will be covered by additional government grants, private donations, city contributions and revenue from leasing unused portions of the building.
