Lawyer Buys Blacksburg's TechPad

TechPad, the coworking space that has housed dozens of Blacksburg startups since 2010, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum.

Buyer James Creekmore, a Blacksburg lawyer, said Friday he doesn’t want to make any major changes to the town’s most well-known haven for entrepreneurs, though he does plan to host more social and educational events inside the office.

Creekmore already owns another downtown Blacksburg coworking space called studio2.0. Now, he plans to manage the sites together. Members will be able to move freely between both locations, though each will keep its own name.

TechPad founder Bob Summers, meanwhile, has taken a job as a senior product manager at Google. After 25 years in Blacksburg, he and his family will move to Mountain View, California, full-time later this month, he said.
