Relay Foods To Close Two Warehouses, Lay Off 48 In Charlottesville

Relay Foods is closing two warehouses in Charlottesville and Richmond on Jan. 15 as part of the merger with Door to Door Organics.

It will also lay off 48 employees in Charlottesville and an undetermined number in Richmond, according to a state reduction in force notice. In addition, the operational changes will affect approximately 30 Relay Foods employees from the corporate office, according to a spokeswoman for Door to Door Organics.

“We will have approximately 25 employees in Virginia that will continue to support the business from the marketing, product, merchandising, people and culture, operations and customer care departments,” spokeswoman Nancy Shloss said in an email.
