The Morgan State men's basketball program has experienced one of its most successful stretches in school history during the 11-year tenure of head coach Todd Bozeman. Despite injuries to its two best players, the 2016-17 team helped its coach break a longstanding school record and is poised for another postseason run.

Morgan State's 77-75 win at South Carolina State Jan. 23 moved the Bears into sole possession of first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. It also marked Bozeman's 167th victory at the school, making the 11th-year head coach the winningest in the history of the men's basketball program. Bozeman broke the record set by Nathaniel Frazier, who went 166-121 during two stints at the school (1972-77, 1986-89).

"The record was special for me and for all of the many people who have been a part of it," said Bozeman, who also won 63 games during a four-season stint as the head coach at California-Berkeley from 1992-96. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Frazier."
